My NYT Piece on RDJ!

February 7, 2009, at 6:46pm.

I’m really psyched to announce my ‘debut’ writing for the New York Times Magazine. It appears tomorrow in the ‘movies’ issue. They asked me to write about Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man. The only frustrating thing was that they only wanted 1,000 words(!). I feel like I could have written a book.

Behold the national geek-out.

Great stuff, Chip. Even non-comic-nerds like myself could see that RDJ was PERFECT for Tony Stark.

Yeah, that was a stellar role. He did a marvelous job. Can’t have imagined anyone else. That little dose of arrogance throughout his character just invigorated the whole movie from the first scene to the last… Great article Sir.

What a fantastic, insightful, and inspiring article! I’d say you made great use of the imposed limitations. As someone who’s been to hell and is still on the way back, this was really encouraging to me, as well as interesting.

Thank You.

Give please. Writing gives you the illusion of control, and then you realize it’s just an illusion, that people are going to bring their own stuff into it. Help me!
